Born in 1968, Tommy O'Haver almost immediately took up filmmaking, spending much of his early years in Indianapolis making Super-8 films like his stop-motion epic "Barbie meets E.T." With a graduate degree from USC School of Cinema-Television, O'Haver made his first feature, the low-budget and critically-acclaimed Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss (1998), which marked the debut of Sean Hayes ("Will and Grace"). O'Haver next directed the off-beat teen comedy Get Over It (2001) with Kirsten Dunst and Ben Foster and the critical and commercially successful Ella Enchanted (2004) with Anne Hathaway. Displaying his command of a wide range of genres, O'Haver's latest film, An American Crime (2007) is a disturbing true-crime story of kidnapping and sexual-slavery in a small town in the 1960s featuring stand-out performances from heavyweights Catherine Keener and Ellen Page. The film premiered at Sundance and hits screens next year. |
